About Ready...Set...Evidence

Building shared infrastructure for structured scientific evidence, collaborative appraisal, reproducible synthesis, and reviews that can build on work already completed.

Why Ready...Set...Evidence exists

Scientific evidence is repeatedly converted into temporary project files. Researchers identify publications, extract study characteristics and endpoints, appraise evidence, reconcile disagreements, perform synthesis, and eventually publish conclusions.

Then another group asks a related question and much of that work begins again.

Ready...Set...Evidence was created around the idea that the structured work performed between finding a publication and reaching a conclusion should be reusable.

The publication does not need to be the smallest reusable unit of scientific evidence.

Cohorts, study characteristics, endpoint extractions, appraisal judgments, competing interpretations, and synthesis-ready data can also be represented as attributable, reusable scientific contributions.

An evidence commons, not just another review workspace

Traditional review software is generally organized around individual projects. Ready...Set...Evidence takes a complementary approach by maintaining a shared evidence layer underneath those projects.

A publication can become a canonical record. Study groups can be described using structured facets. Endpoint results can be extracted once and reviewed by multiple contributors. Appraisals can remain attributable to individual researchers. Reviews can then select from that accumulated evidence rather than requiring every team to reconstruct the same information independently.

Public scientific evidence belongs to the broader evidence ecosystem. Organizations can still maintain private or organization-scoped contributions when necessary, without requiring the underlying scientific record to become organization-specific.

Designed to preserve disagreement

Scientific collaboration does not require pretending that every interpretation is immediately settled.

Ready...Set...Evidence is designed to allow contributors to confirm an extraction, challenge it, propose an alternative, and preserve the history of how evidence changes over time. Community consensus can emerge without removing the underlying provenance or disagreement that produced it.

Structured enough for synthesis, flexible enough for real research

Evidence rarely fits into one universal schema. A study may involve populations, drugs, devices, procedures, exposures, diagnostics, treatments, subgroups, technical variants, geographic settings, and many other characteristics.

The platform therefore uses reusable structured concepts and facets rather than relying only on rigid domain-specific fields. This allows highly granular evidence when needed without making the system specific to one therapy area, product type, or research discipline.

Appraisal and synthesis

Ready...Set...Evidence supports independent study appraisal and quantitative synthesis. The platform includes conventional synthesis approaches as well as the Random Appraisal-Weighted Method, which incorporates structured study appraisal into weighting while retaining statistical precision.

Different appraisal frameworks can coexist because the appraisal itself is part of the scientific context. Researchers should be able to understand not only the pooled result, but also which evidence was used, how it was appraised, and how those decisions affected the synthesis.

Research identity and attribution

Evidence contributions are more valuable when their provenance is clear. Contributor profiles are intended to connect literature additions, extractions, appraisals, corrections, reviews, and other scientific activity to identifiable researchers.

ORCID integration provides a path toward verified researcher identity and verified relationships between contributors and their publications.

Core principles

Reusable evidence

Structured scientific work should be able to support more than one review or research question.

Visible provenance

Users should be able to understand who contributed information, what changed, and why.

Reproducible conclusions

Published reviews should preserve the specific evidence versions and methods underlying their conclusions.

Living evidence

Shared evidence can evolve as new publications, corrections, appraisals, and interpretations are contributed.

Built from real evidence work

Ready...Set...Evidence began from practical experience in clinical affairs, regulatory evidence generation, post-market surveillance, literature review, real-world evidence, and quantitative synthesis.

Those origins shaped the emphasis on messy evidence, auditability, structured appraisal, heterogeneous datasets, and practical synthesis. The underlying model, however, is intentionally broader than any one industry or evidence type.

Where we are now

Ready...Set...Evidence is currently in active beta. The core Evidence Commons, researcher profiles, organizations, structured evidence extraction, study appraisal, synthesis, and review workflows are being developed iteratively while the underlying scientific model and community governance continue to mature.

Early contributors are encouraged to use the platform, challenge assumptions, identify missing evidence structures, and help determine what a genuinely collaborative evidence ecosystem should become.
